I love the original Twilight Zone, but it was actually this 80s incarnation with which I was first familiar. But I hadn't revisited it in many years. I was curious to see how it held up.
Short answer: pretty well. Here are my 25 favorites.

This incarnation of the TZ never found its groove on prime time or in syndication. Which is too bad, as there were more than a few episodes worthy of the franchise. It's the lesser of the two revivals but still worth checking out.

DeleteI hope you enjoy poking around this site. I think I'm going to cover some Captain America comics next, as far as projects go, and try and mop up a few of the other unfinished ones.
And probably (always) more Twilight Zone and Star Trek. Naturally!
Tonight's episode: "Long Live Walter Jameson," which is another one of those bum-you-out episodes you mentioned recently. I'm going to pretend it's a sideways prequel to "Requiem for Methuselah," which shares with it the conviction that immortality is a big old sack of crap.

Either way, good episode. Kevin McCarthy being on hand certainly didn't hurt any.
Tonight, I watched "The Big Tall Wish." I thought this was a pretty excellent episode. Didn't see the twist(s) coming, which is just how I like it.

My compliments to Mama Burnette - that's one helluva gift, indeed.
DeleteI like the story of "Big Tall Wish" but the acting from the kid is a little distracting. It's unfair to critique kid actors, sure, and he's not quite Courtland Mead from the Garris/Weber "Shining" level of distracting. But ugh. First thing I think of when I think of that episode is some of the lines that kid delivers.
The kid is genuinely awful, no doubt about it. But there wasn't exactly a large pool of competent actors in his demographic pool and age range in those days, I guess, so I'll make a few allowances for him.
